E. Ron Watson is co-author of “Think Hope: Maria Middleton’s Life of Unyielding Trust in God” (ascensionpress.com/maria). He was an intimate witness to Maria’s last five months of life while she was a patient in the hospital where he worked. He retired six months after Maria entered eternal life, and began a journey of several years to record her story and its inspired potential to awaken the faith in some and deepen it for others, both young and old – as Maria enriched his.
He has a checkered past with careers as a newspaper reporter and editor, banking vice president, government public information officer, free-lance wordsmith and, finally, 20 years as communications director for a community health system. Throughout his careers, Ron was active in parish and archdiocesan affairs. In retirement, he volunteers in the Press Office of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa and is president of a fledgling scholarship fund for Catholic school students.
He is married to Diane, a love at first sight. They raised three children in Bucks County, Pa., and have two grandchildren. He is working on new nonfiction and a garden that is too big, while trying to find time for fly-fishing.
